Hi. I'm Carla Leenders and I'm a stylist with The Glass Slipper. Today, I'm going to show you how to style your wardrobe.

Summer jackets are great because they can be lots of different things, worn daytime or night time, dressed up or dressed down. A jacket like this is great with this lovely fluid shape. It just brings to mind lots of summery images because it's in this really lovely neutral colour which is going to go with lots of summery colours.

For example, it's going to go great with the pink like this. It's going to go great with toned grays. So, it's a really good thing to keep in your wardrobe because it's nice and neutral and it can match well with lots of things.

What you don't want to do with a summer jacket is buying a really bright colour and then you're restricted to wear it with just one outfit. Something like this, because it's light and fluid with this lovely waterfall neckline, is a really good thing to team with summery trousers like linen trousers. Because the jacket's not heavy, it's not going to add too much bulk with the trousers or it's not going to look uncoordinated.

Keep it simple by putting on some linen trousers, a really nice white vest top, and if you're going to accessorize, just put a really lovely silky scarf. Again, this is going to help fall in line with the waterfall neckline of the jacket and it's nothing too heavy so it's not going to bring imbalance to the outfit. You see, with something like this, it's all a lot of really light fabrics and everything's soft and fluid so it creates a really nice soft fluid summery look.

But because the jacket's got a little bit of structure with the nipped-in waist and this waterfall neckline, it stops it from looking too slouchy or too casual. Blazers are a really big trend and just because it's summer, it doesn't mean you can't wear one. Go for something in a really lightweight jersey like this.

It's not heavy and it's not stiff but it still looks quite smart. So, it's going to be able to smart up that summer outfit and you're going to get the look of a blazer without the heaviness of a winter type. Something like this is great because it's got a built-in waist.

You've got some pleating and some darting and a little flap at the back. So, it still looks pretty formal. You can put something like this on your linen trousers and make it look quite smart but it's not going to look wintery or heavy and it's not going to cause imbalance to your linen trousers which are light and fluid.

Just team it with something really casual like a white vest or a really nice scarf. Again, keep your scarf nice and silky and soft so it all maintains this silky lightweight feeling and nothing's too heavy. You don't want to throw the balance of your outfit out by putting something heavy and chunky on with it.

And that's how you wear a summer jacket. .
