How To Whistle A Note
In this video, David Morris explains how to whistle a note.
Hello there. I'm David Morris. In 2003, I went over to America and I won the title “World Champion Whistler” and I'm here today to hopefully help you improve your whistling.
“How to whistle a note”. Form an “O” shape with the lips and blow (whistling…), and you should get a note. And then think higher or think lower (whistling…).
When you want to whistle higher you need to raise the position of the tongue inside the mouth (whistking…) the tongue there is really high inside the roof of the mouth. For a low note (whistling…) the tongue is right at the bottom of the throat. If you need to play a long note, obviously you need to take a really big breathe (taking a breath) from the diaphragm area and start the note (whistling…) and keep blowing of course.
If it's a short note, obviously most toccata it's gotta be (whistling…) something like that. I always find it easier as well just to moisten the lips (wetting lips) with the tip of the tongue just before I start to perform a piece. It seems to give a good consistent quality of sound.
And that's how you whistle a note.
