I'm now going to be showing you how to whiten teeth using Adobe Photoshop CS4. Okay, as you can see here, a picture of this guy, he's just laughing away. As you can see, he's got slightly yellow teeth as we all have, some of us, more than others.

And what I've done here is I've just whitened his teeth slightly giving him that sort of pearly-toothed smile. Just a little bit better. This is what we had before.

To navigate around your image, we're going to be using your "Hand Tool" which you can get quite quickly by holding down the space bar on your keyboard, clicking on the image and moving it around, and the "Zoom-In" and "Zoom-Out Tool". The shortcut for that on your keyboard is "Apple" or "Control" if you're using a PC, and the "+" and "-" symbols at the top of your keyboard. So there we go, there's this geezer here with his slightly yellowy teeth.

Right, so what we need to do now is we need to create a "Mask" and "Mask Out" his teeth outline, here, which we can then manipulate the colors of later on. So, in order to create the "Mask", we're going to enter the "Quick Mask Mode" by just pressing "Q" on your keyboard. As you can see here in the history, we've now entered the "Quick Mask Mode" and we're going to use the "Brush Tool" which you'll find here on the left-hand side of your palette, or "B" is the shortcut.

So in order to change the brush size, I'm going to drop down this menu here. And, just move it. Move the options around just a little bit here, just to speed up the process so you're not here for hours trying to paint in his teeth with such a tiny brush.

We're going to press "ENTER" once you've got your selection set, zooming in on the image. And it's just the case of just going around and painting in his teeth. Again, adjusting the image.

Again, adjusting the brush size as you see fit. So, again, you guys can be a lot more careful than I am here. This is just done roughly so I can demonstrate this tutorial to you.

So, if you feel that you've gone over the gum area, like I have done here, you use the "Erase Tool". Which is, the shortcut for that is "E" or can be found in the palette on the left hand side. It looks a little bit like a rubber.

And you can just go around and remove areas where you've made your little mistakes. So, we're selecting the brush tool. I'm just going to carry on painting in these notches.

And adjusting the size if and when you see fit, just to make your life a little bit easier. So what we're doing here is we're highlighting the selection of the image that we're going to manipulate slightly later on. I certainly have to get the bottom tooth here.

Okay, so we're going all across the lines there. It's almost a bit like a coloring class. Okay, so if you "Zoom Out," as you can see, he has slightly weird colored teeth.

So, to come out of "Quick Mask Mode" and have this area selected, we're just going to press "Q". So, as you can see now, we've got a selection of his teeth and the outside of the image. Now, we don't want the outside of the image, we just want his teeth.

So, in order to invert the selection, you hold down "Apple" or "Control" if you're using a PC, "SHIFT", and the letter "I" on your keyboard. This will change the selection. As you can see, the outer edge here isn't selected anymore and we just have his teeth, making it look he has "Grills" on.

So, we're not going to make a copy of his teeth there. So let's do this the quick way. Hold down "Apple" or "Control" if you're using a PC, and press the letter "J".

Now, if I remove the background layer there, we've just got a cut out of teeth. So, like I said before, you'll get better results if you spend more time going around and carefully cutting out your images. So, there we go.

Right. So, now what we need to do is we're going to take the yellow tint out of his teeth. If we go up to "Image," "Adjustments," and all the way down here to "De-saturate," shortcut there "SHIFT", "App
