How To Win An Eating Competition

Competitive eating competitions are about endurance, stamina and stomach capacity. Survive the competitions and don't let your opponent win because you couldn't handle your hot dog properly.

Step 1: Focused On Food

Just like the Jedi meditates on the Force, so will you meditate on the food. For the next 10 minutes, you're going to be asking a lot of your body. Focus on the food in front of you and block out all other impulses.

Step 2: Strategize

Each food can be eaten a certain way. Master the perfect way to stomach that hot dog, chicken wing or hoagie. Some competitive eaters dunk their food in water or break the food in half before eating. Whatever your method, don't stray from your mastered mechanics or you'll throw off your rhythm.

Step 3: The Gag

Gagging is a competitor's worst enemy. It's your body's way of telling you when you've had enough. Like the sword swallower, you'll have to fight through it. Focus on your food and be sure not to "refund" or you'll be disqualified.

Step 4: Catching A Burp

This is the only time where burping isn't considered rude. Burp during the contest to let out excess air and free up some much needed room. The more air out, the more room in.
