How To Wind Kite Sting

Hello! I'm Thomas from the Kite Surf Center. Today, I'm just gonna show you a couple of tips on how to fly a kite and how to get into these brilliant sports of kite flying. So, this is how to wind a kite string or kite line.

So, the kite lines are the parts running from the handles up to the kite. You want to pack them up really nice. At least so the next time you go out, they're not on a massive tangle.

So, the easiest way to do it, grab all four lines like this. Just let your kite killers hang loose at the start with and we're gonna do figure of eights from the handles. Now it's the best way to keep them tidy so you don't them tangled.

See it's crossing in the center and not going around and the handles ‘cause the problem with going around and around is that everytime you done each loop, that's putting a spiral into the line. So the next time you go to set up, you've got lots and lots of tangles on your line. See? Figure of 8s like this all the way along the lines up until you get to the kite.

So what you'll probably find you're always gonna hold the handles with one hand, and the lines with the other. And when you go to set up your kites again, this is the exact same thing. So I'm holding the handles with my right hand, and winding with my left hand.

So when I go to unravel, what I'm gonna do is the opposite. So I'm gonna hold the handles with my right hand, and unravel with my left hand. So it's just the opposite and you won't get any tangles.

So, hopefully I'm not gonna get tangles. So, all the way to the kite, and we're done. So just the last bit of winding the lines here.

So, when you get close to the kite, we just need to take them off. Last one. So, what you'll see, just so you can contain your lines with these, toggle on the loop, so when you have your lines winded like this, pull the toggle and that looses up really easily to get your line up.

So, you got to the end of the line now. Just with this last bit. Just finish the figure of 8 thing.

Your kite killers are nice and loose and wrap them all the way and wrap them around. Put the wrist straps over the ends and you put on a nice tidy packing. So, to learn how to pack up the rest of the kite, you can check out our other video of how to pack away the actual kite.
