Step 2: Use a ring sizer

In most jewellers, you will find a professional industry-standard ring sizer. This is a collection of several ring shapes in different sizes. Each ring size is given a letter as measurements are graded alphabetically from A to Z with half sizes in between.

Step 3: Try different sizes

Ask your jeweller to help you use the ring sizer. He will try to find the ring size he thinks is appropriate for your finger and go down one size at a time until he finds one that fits.

Step 4: The fit

The ring should fit tightly over the knuckle so that it cannot easily slip off your finger.

Step 5: Temperature

Temperature will make a difference to your ring size, cold will make your fingers smaller and heat will make them bigger. If the temperature has had an effect, you can always have the ring altered later.

Step 6: Find a ring

All that's left to do is find a ring you like and have it sized.

Step 7: Done

A perfect fit!
