How To Work The Red Carpet
Mix one red carpet event, you and a dash of chutzpah and that's a recipe for some fun with paparazzi. Whether you're a starlet or a wannabe celebutante, having your photo taken by the paps can be exciting. We'll show you how to sneak on to the red carpet and then once you're there, how to milk it for all it's worth! You better work it, girl!
-
Step 1:
-
Fake It
-
Once you get near the event, you're number one obstacle will be the team of publicists manning the red carpet entrance.
So you don't get kicked off, act like you belong there, smile a ton and say hello to anyone that looks important!
-
Step 2:
-
Timing
-
You need to buy as much time as you can on the red carpet to maximize your celebrity moment! It's a short walk, You could blast on thru to the other side in a matter or seconds. So, look around-there's always someone just standing around to whom you can pose some random question? Like, "Do you have the time?", "Is it expected to rain?", "Why are these carpets red?".
Using the stalling method, gauge an opportune time to step into the limelight. Walk out there with confidence!
-
Step 3:
-
Hype Thyself
-
Always arrive armed with a shpeel. Just in case the event publicist asks, "Who are you?" or there's a lull between famous faces and some newbie producer starts asking you questions.
You don't have to lie, make it worthwhile. For example: I'm SO AND SO and I'm an actor. I'm the lead in a new pilot INSERT ANY TITLE HERE that will air on the INSERT NETWORK HERE.
They might think you're fabulous and –gasp- you make the cut into an entertainment show.
-
Step 4:
-
The Walk And Stop
-
This technique was perfected by Paris Hilton long before anyone knew who she was. Simply walk in front of the wall of photographers…stop…and strike a pose. They'll actually start taking a couple of snaps and eventually, the paps will begin asking who you are-GOLD!
-
Step 5:
-
Bravo!
-
You walked the walk and talked the talk. Now don't waste all that good makeup - take that movie star attitude and waltz right on in to the big time!
