Trainer and strength conditioning coach Dan Roberts shows viewers two exercises aimed at working out the lower abs. Follow his laying leg extension and Swiss ball techniques.
If you would like to work your lower abs, I'm going to show you two great exercises to achieve this. First of all, we have got the laying leg extensions. Lay on your back, shoulders back, nice and relaxed, lift your heels off the floor, in and out, very slowly, all the way out, all the way in, all the way out, all the way in.
Do them quick, like this, you may feel a burning, but you'll lose form, you'll start rocking, won't be good. Always do them slowly. If you're pretty advanced, if you're quite strong here already, you can have ankle weights on here, maybe like 2 kilos, or you can hold a medicine ball in-between your feet, that is pretty advanced.
Another exercise you can do is a Swiss ball rolling. Now, this works a few muscles, mainly your core, a little bit of your shoulders, but it's mainly lower abs. So, it's a bit like a press up position on a ball.
Your shoelaces on the top of the ball, rolling in, rolling out, rolling in, rolling out. Again, doing it quickly, you will lose form, it's not good. Slow controlled range of movement.
When you get tired, you'll end up with your back arcing like this, this isn't good. Always try to keep your bum high. So your shoulders, your hip bones, and your feet are in a straight line, complete straight line, so it may be handy to have a mirror to the side of you so you can see your form.
So, laying leg extensions and your Swiss ball pulls are exactly how to work your lower abs. .
