Hi, Im Veiko from Calico Studio in London. How to make a calligraphy mark. First when you have a pen, you need to connect your pen.
If it is a new pen, you need to first make it creasy because it is new. And if it doesn't want to fit in, you need to make sure it will fit in nicely for you, pen holder. Nicely parked.
Make sure it will fit correctly. If it's new and it's never creasy, you need to take the crease off first using a little bit of hot water. And just wash a little bit to make sure the ink will stick for your pen.
I have washed my pen now, it is ready to start to make the mark. Pens come in different sizes, this is roughly in one millimeter size. I will feed my pen with ink.
And I will try to do a first mark. And at first, what you will look, how much it feeds the ink. You will see I got the different lines.
If my pen is wider, it will be more difficult to make this mark. In the first, you don't need to press very hard the pen, just need to make sure it will start to run. If you press the pen incorrectly or you have pressure in one finger more than other, you will have one edge rough.
If you don't press correctly, when you're using the pen, you will get different marks in the same pen. This is the way, starting to do just a couple lines to see how your pen is working. I use my pen horizontally in the line to get a very thick line.
If I want to turn my pen, just little bit angle. In the first, I want to use horizontal in the same mark, I've got a very thick line. If I push my pen in right direction, I've got a very thin line.
And you can have at the same time a very thin and very thick line. If I want to make my pen just with a little bit of an angle, like thirty degree. Where is my pen, it's thirty -degree angle.
If I want to push that line to the end, I will get a thicker line. If I want, push my pen maybe forty-five degree, my diagonal line will be again thicker. Or fifty-five degree, you will see how pen is working and how you will get different marks. .
