VideoJug users RobAndWendy shows you how to perform some simple tricks with your Diabolo. From getting started, to throwing and catching your Diabolo, this film covers all aspects, and includes some humorous outtakes!

Step 1: Equipment

The tricks are performed using a small diabolo purchased from a toy shop. These are quite difficult to use (see out-takes!). Better quality diabolos are available from circus equipment, or 'skill toys' shops such as 'firetoys.co.uk'
Purchase 'Henry's' string and a 'Mr Babash Finesse' diabolo and your away. (An 'Oddball Radiant is a cheapervery hardwaring alternative but not quite as easy to use). LED lights can be fitted to the Finesse as seen at the end of the video being used in the dark on a loop of string (no sticks).

Step 2: To learn more tricks

There are instructional DVDs available from circus toy shops. We used' kiddiabolo first steps for beginners'.
Donald Grant has produced five books of diabolo tricks 'Circustuff' publications.

Step 3: Diabolo Clubs

Find your local juggling club at www.juggling.org often they have members who also do diabolo.

Diabolos are chinese yo yo's that started poff as a childs game that later showed up in america through the circus and asians just sowing off (just kidding) Anyways, b4 you start knocking them off, look at how cool the tricks could be if you really put your mind to it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LU0XI3qZIw This is done by a french circus called Cirue du Soleil (Circus of the Sun) This is from one of their many shows called Quidam, which, i think, is one of their best shows so far :)

Diabolo is a skill, much tougher than it looks. It's pronounced "dee-uh-bolow". Diablo (Spanish for Satan) is spelled differently.

The words diabolo and diablo do come from the same latin root word 'diabolus'. The diabolo is a 'skill toy' seen a lot in circus performances and associated with juggling. Other skill toys include poi, devil sticks and yoyo.
