An Introduction to Guided Self-Hypnosis by Lynn Worthington, C.Ht; certified hypnotherapist of 38 + years experience. This 'mini-vacation' may be downloaded and replayed at any time a break is needed from the stress of everyday life.
Step 1:
Hello. My name is Lynn Worthington. I am a certified hypnotherapist of 38 years experience. I comprise one half of hypo systems you tape. This recording is an introduction to the benefits of guided self-hypnosis. How many times have you had a very intense day of activity and found you could not unwind after the end of it? How many times have you gotten fed up with a life situation? These feelings are signs of extreme stress. When the body and mind are stressed, they do not function as they should. In fact stress can actually shorten your life. A stressed shortened life is often an extremely rushed and frantic life. Do you find yourself constantly rushing to complete tasks? Do you feel there is never enough time for anything? Then now is the time to learn otherwise.
Step 2:
Sit or lie down. Slip off your shoes and any clothing that is tight or uncomfortable. You may pause this recording as you do so. I will cease speaking for 10 seconds at this point.
Step 3:
Now that you have made yourself basically as comfortable as you can, I will assist you in becoming even more comfortable. Take a deep slow breath and big stretch. Feel how this helps you begin to relax. Relaxation flowing from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. Take another deep breath and feel a warm wave flow upwards relaxing you even more. When it reaches your head, it flows back down. You are so much more relaxed now than when we began. Just like ripples on liquid in an enclosed space, waves flow up and down, back and forth.
Step 4:
You are so relaxed now. Your eyes may wish to just close on their own. Or, your eyelids may remain half open, but heavy and relaxed. Everyone responds differently. Allow yourself to find your personal response level. Listen to me and deeply relax. It feels so good to simply let go and forget about the world around you.
Step 5:
Hypnosis is not some mysterious process of mind control. In fact, as you relax twice as deeply now, you will realize you are completely in control. Feel completely and utterly relaxed and at ease. I am only a guide helping you to help yourself-as your state of relaxation deepens yet again.
Step 6:
Count down with me now from ten to one. With each number, allow yourself to relax three times as deeply as the previous number. Ten, and you feel that warm wave flowing again. Nine, feel the everyday world receding more with each number. Eight, as if you have found a transparent enclosure, a barrier between yourself and normal life. Seven, relaxation increasing exponentially. Six, you sink deeper and deeper into your own inner mind. Five, halfway there and more relaxed already than may have ever have ever been. Four, feeling very good about yourself as a person. Three...two...and one. Just stay here for a few minutes; A nice mini vacation that will leave you refreshed and ready to face whatever the remainder of your day may hold.
Step 7:
You may notice your thoughts come more slowly. Or, that you have not had a thought at all in the last few minutes. This is a normal occurrence as your conscious mind has now taken a back seat. Allowing your subconscious mind to come to the front and take over driving temporarily. Hypnotic trance is the temporary exchange of subconscious rule for conscious rule. Your subconscious mind tends to think in images, where your conscious mind thinks in words or complete sentences. So, you may find pictures drifting through where only words and concepts were before.
Step 8:
Count slowly from zero to 100, letting the relaxation expand into your very core. The slower you count the more relaxed and refreshed you will be when you wake from this trance. Your mind clear. Your ability to focus enhanced. Every part of you alive, but relaxed and calm. Pause the recording again as you count from zero to 100.
Step 9:
Now that you have reached 100, rest a minute more. Then begin to awake as I count back to zero. Ten, slowly rising. Nine. Eight. Seven. Six. Five, half awake. Four. Three. Two. One. Zero. Wake now, refreshed and alert.
Step 10:
Access this break from the world whenever you wish to in the future and enjoy the rest of your day.
