Learn How To Surf

From getting on your board to riding a powerful wave to the shore, champion surfer and Welsh and British team surfing coach, Lloyd Cole, will teach you how to surf. In this quick two-minute video, learn how to properly position your body on the board, catch a wave, and pop up onto your surfboard.

In this video, I'm going to show you how to learn to surf. I'm going to show you very briefly how to catch a wave and how to pop up and stand and go across the wave. First things first, it's getting our body positioning correct on the board.

Jump on the board; hook your feet over the end. You're always looking forward. First things first, we need to pick our wave.

When a wave is about a meter to two meters off the end of our surfboard, this is when we want to start paddling for our wave. We're in the water, there's our wave coming. We're going to jump on our surfboard, paddle, always looking forward.

Once you feel as though the waves got you, and you're going to know that because you're going to feel the power of the wave taking you towards the shore. Once you know that wave's got you, then you start paddling. Put your arms by your chest, always looking forward, and after three (one, two, three) pop to your feet.

Always keep nice and low. Looking forward, keep your arms balanced. And that is how to learn to surf. .
