Step 1: Location
Let’s locate the posterior muscles. Suboccipitals is actually four small muscles but most people know them as suboccipitals. It’s right underneath the suboccipital ridge and they’re actually on it.
Step 2: Scapulae Region
The Splenius Capitus, splenius, it actually means bandage and “Capitus” goes to skull region. Levator Scapulae right here, “levator” means elevate, so it elevates the scapulae region.
Step 3: Rotator Cuff Muscles
Teres Minor, part of the rotator cuff muscles. Teres Major, just little bit inferior to that. In a way you can remember that is Teres Major helps support Teres Minor.
Step 4: Arm Muscles
Triceps Brachii most people known as triceps. Latissimus Dorsi, the widest muscle as you can see here in the lower to midback area, it is also superficial. Anconeus right on the elbow region. Extensor Digitorum, right here on the extensor area and it goes down to the digits.
Step 5: Leg Muscles
dratus Lomborum, it’s a lower muscle, “quadratus “means four sides, “lomborum,” low back. Piriformis, it’s kind of pear shaped and the deepest muscle in the glut region. Biceps Femoris, the bigger hamstring muscle. And the Semitendinosus and Semimembranosus are the medial hamstring.
Step 6: Shoulder Muscles
Let’s go to the other side. Supraspinatus, the Supraspinatus is one of the rotator cuff muscles right up in here. Rhomboids, right in this area. Infraspinatus, another rotator cuff muscle.
Trapezius, this whole area here, superficial. And Erector Spinae, it runs along the side of the spine. Gluteus Medius, the upper portion of the glut and it’s a middle layer.
Step 7: Gluteus Muscles
Gluteus Medius, the upper portion of the glut and it’s a middle layer. Gluteus Minimus, right around here, and it’s a deepest glut muscle. Gluteus Maximus most superficial.
Step 8: Gastrocnemius
This whole area right here. Gastrocnemius, superficial calf muscle. “Gastro” actually means belly and Soleus, it’s a deep calf muscle.
