A Parotta, is a commonly eaten bread in South India. This is not to be confused with the North Indian Paratha. Parottas are available in hotels and road side shops across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. It is also served in marriage and religious festival and feasts.

Usually, Parottas are relished with chicken, mutton or beef saalna, a spicy sauce. Other variants of the common parottas are Kerala porotta, Chilli Parotta, Coin parotta, Veechu parotta and Kothu parotta. [Ref. Wikipedia] Enlarge A Parotta, is a commonly eaten bread in South India. Brilliant technique! I had previously been introduced to this by a friend from Zanzibar. His technique is more intricate and involved rolling the doughballs into thin circles with a rolling pin (much more difficult). On the other hand, he used ghee instead of oil, which I think gives the product a more interesting taste. He also used whole wheat flour, which in turn alters the taste. What on earth is self-raising flour? No such thing to be had here in Sweden. Does it contain yeast or dried sourdough? I didn't see any yeast in your list of ingredients... Great video, I will try this when I have solved the self-raising flour mystery.
