What's the Big Secret?

The Phoenix cinema opened in 1910 as the East Finchley Picturedome, and has been screening films ever since – for almost a century.

The Phoenix is staffed by passionate, knowledgeable individuals. Chief Projectionist Peter Bayley has been projecting films for nearly 50 years, and was awarded the MBE for services to the UK film industry in 2002.

Today, a visitor to The Phoenix will be treated to a traditionally British cinema experience. You'll be greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff, all of whom are passionate about cinema. Make sure you arrive early to make the most of the coffee bar's range of coffee, speciality teas and home-made cakes, as well as sweets, crisps and the traditional popcorn. The phoenix is also one of the few cinemas in the country where you can enjoy a drink while watching the film. The licensed bar serves a range of beers and wines, with wine of the month tailored to match the flavour of the evening's main feature.
