Step 1: Saftey

Remove the battery to prevent accidentle powering on of the phone

Step 2: Remove the top housing

Slide your finger nails down the back of the phone where the fascia meets the slide, the fascia should then just click off

Step 3: Remove the frame

Again, with the finger nails, the metal frame will just click off

Step 4: Remove the Keypad circuit board

Gently remove the keypad, there is usually a little bit of glue underneath if you get your finger nails under the keypad it should just come up. Once its released gently remove the ribbon from the back of the keypad and pop it off.

Step 5: Change the LCD

Remove the ribbon to the LCD and replace with the new LCD

Step 6: Replace the Keypad

This is very important, if the keypad is not secured onto the ribbon correctly the backlight on the LCD will NOT work.

Step 7: Put the top housing back on

Gently snap back on the old/new fascia

Step 8: Test it!

Power it on and check its all working okay!

Many thanks for this. Proved invaluable. Observation on doing my 6280. I found that Ribbon cable/Flex cable can be problematical. When first replaced LCD it worked fine (your stage 6). When tried it out after replacing cover it did not. Could get the old damaged LCD to work as before, but new one was blank. Then back-light had ceased to funtion. After much playing around following seemed to be important a) Making sure main connector Ribbon connector firmly pressed in b) Being very very careful how the cover was put back on (I kept the phone on while doing this so could see if the screen was still working)
