Paintball Safety - Your Goggles
http://www.paintballguns808.com talks about the choice you will make on what goggles you use for paintball playing.
Step 1: Paintball Mask Explained
Hey again! This is Russ Hootz, at PaintBallGuns808.com. Today our topic is paintball masks or goggles. Your mask is THE most important piece of equipment you will ever use. If you try to save money and go cheap on anything, ladies and gents, this is not the equipment to do it on. Whatever mask you do choose, read and follow the directions in the manual for fitting, wearing, cleaning, and maintaining it.
Step 2: Choose The Mask
Now the mask should be worn properly at all times anywhere paintball guns are fired or even handled without the barrel plugs or bags in place.
This is a JT Proshield Thermal Goggle System, it comes with a manual. Pick a mask that can be worn comfortably for long periods of time. I wear mine over this cap, reversed-- gives the back of my neck extra protection.
Now the inner foam should fit tight enough to keep the sweat from rolling into your eyes. The mask should also cover your jaw line and your ears. Choose one vented enough to stay cool and prevent the lenses from fogging up. Now this thermal system-- a lot of different kinds have the thermal system-- they have dual-pane lenses. That keeps the fogging out as well.
Step 3: Other Considerations
Always use this chin strap and keep it snapped when playing. A lot of today's markers puts out streams of paintballs that can blow the mask right off your head without it. Ten, fifteen, even twenty balls per second at 280 feet per second-- if that mask is blown off, you could easily catch five to ten paintballs right in the kisser.
Paint up your nostrils and down your throat would be bad enough, but an eye shot can blind you, and an ear shot can rupture an eardrum. We want you to be safe out there, so remember, your mask is the most important piece of equipment you will ever use.
So that ends our mission briefing for today.
