Begin with the lightest tones and colours and gradually build up to the dark shadow areas.

Use masking fluid to preserve some of the white.

Star with the lightest colours, a range of yellows then adding a strong colour blue before the first layer dries out mixing freely building up depth of colour and indicating a contrast between cool to hot areas.

Practise different brush strokes to show a difference in patterns and objects in the composition.

an okay guide to watercolour painting. should have explained the qualities of watercolour and what is needed to get the best experience out of them. the biggest problem with this video is that maggy very very rarely actually looked at her subject/s. observation is absolute key in art.
