The wall run is used to get up to high places. It involves running up to a wall, and kicking off with the foot. This then lets the athlete reach up as high as they can, grabbing the top so they can pull themselves up and stand on the wall.

Please note that the techniques shown here are intended as examples of Parkour moves, as opposed to being actual 'tutorials'. They are performed by a professional athlete. Beginners and less experienced people wishing to get into Parkour should seek out an academy to learn from the professionals.

The people that say this video doesn't help, are wrong. I could already do this but I needed to have a more efficient way of pulling myself up (I use my elbows). It helped a lot.

Well, there should be a video made specifically on how to find a parkour academy and/or school. Simply typing into google parkour academy (then your local area) doesn't bring up many results.

I hope that the folks out there are dumb enough to try this and break an arm or leg when doing so do not sue the property owner.

Unfortunately he's wrong about the origin of parkour. Sebastien Foucan (of Jump London/Britain and Casino Royale fame) who's one of the sport's originators (along with David Belle of the BBC ads) says it's about not being confined by today's urban environment - the "quickest to A-B" factor is merely an advantage. My tip for the wall run would be to keep your torso as close to the wall as possible to make the leg-push more powerful. M

Parkour should be a personal experience. Training by yourself teaches you caution, enhances your concentration and helps you develop your own style. Academies can offer much, especially to younger people wishing to take it up, but should not be solely relied upon.
