Many people view pitbulls as vicious, bloodthirsty killers. While some pitbulls can be dangerous, there are many misconceptions about the breed.
Well, I think some of the misconceptions of the breed,are that they have locking jaws, that they're vicious and they're just going to turn on you totally unprovoked, and that's not necessarily the truth.
Step 2: Pitbull History
Pitbulls were once used for entertainment in a public spectacle called bullbaiting. Pitbull fighting is still a problem to this day in some parts of the country. With their violent history, it's no wonder many fear the American pitbull terrier.
Inbreeding and agressive training have made some dog accidents waiting to happen, but it's important to remember that not all pitbulls are created equal. Many of these dogs are playful, gentle animals that can make great pets.
Step 3: Getting A Pitbull
So you're thinking of getting a pitbull like BooBoo here?
Remember, pitbulls have the tenacity of a terrier and the strength of a bull, and they're really strong-willed, so you better be a determined, strong trainer yourself.
If you're thinking about getting an adult dog, consider temperament testing, or if it's a puppy, try to get the parents' temperament tested. You should also make sure that your dog is spayed or neutered.
You should not take them to dog parks, and remember that pitbulls should be supervised at all times.
Step 4: Strong Willed
These dogs are strong-willed; they're very confident, very self-assured, and they can walk all over your, basically, if you're not a strong owner.
