Playing Squash: How To Drop Shot
Try to hit a Drop Shot when your opponent is farthest from the wall. Hit the ball in front of your left leg on the forehand side so the ball will drop in where the side wall and the floor meet. This will make it very difficult for your opponent to reach this low ball from across the court.
Hi my name is Bob Jaffe. I'm the director of coaching at the Dulwich Squash Club in London. I'm going to talk to you about the equipment you're going to need, the etiquette you're going to use on the court, and the sort of shots that you're going to need to play, and how you're going to play them.
The Drop Shot, great shot to do especially if your opponent is stuck at the back of the court. Make him run the full diagonal of the squash court which is the greatest distance they're going to have to cover. Things to remember, hit the ball in front of the left leg on your forehand side, aiming the ball close to the corner, so it drops hopefully into the nick area which is the join of the side wall and the floor.
Doesn't have to be too tight providing you keep it close to the side wall it will be a difficult job for your opponent to return. .
