Practice Drills For Speed And Agility

This VideoJug film shoes you how to improve your speed, accuracy and agility to help you win a tennis game. Follow tennis expert Frances Ribeiro's tips to improve your overall tennis game.
-
Step 1:
-
Groundstroke rally
-
Simply begin with both players standing in their forehand corners and rallying crosscourt.
-
A target may be placed one metre inside the baseline. Players attempt to hit it five times.
-
TIP: If you continually fail to hit the target take a step in and hit the ball with less pace.
-
Step 2:
-
Volley Volley Drill
-
This volley drill helps develop reactions and control.
-
You and your partner stand roughly halfway between the service line and the net, on opposite sides of the court. Volley back and forth to each other, trying to keep the ball going.
-
You can advance this drill by closing in. Simply move forward one step with each volley. The idea is to keep closing until you trap the ball between your rackets at the net.
-
This drill is a fun challenge and a great exercise in control.
-
Step 3:
-
Killer put aways
-
Both players start on the baseline and take it in turns to feed short high bouncing balls that land close to the net.
-
The opponent runs to the net and puts the ball away, winning the point in a blaze of glory.
-
TIP: Be decisive. Make up your mind what shot you are going to play and put the ball away.
-
Time to put into practice your new skills, for a faster, better game, played the VideoJug way!
