Products For Your Hair Type

Hair stylist Nic Davis shows you which hair products will work with your specific hair type, whether it's fine, thick, dry, curly or straight.

Step 1: Thickness

There are three main hair types, thick, medium and fine. Fine hair generally needs less products, while thick hair needs more products - this applies to washing as well as styling.

Step 2: Elasticity

When the hair is wet, pick up a strand of hair and pull it between your fingers. Healthy hair won't stretch very much, but dry, damaged hair will stretch more. If this is the case, apply a small amount of serum before blow drying to protect the hair.

Step 3: Curliness

If you have straight hair, use a serum before blow drying for a sleek look. If you'd like more volume, use a serum followed by a mousse on the roots.
If you have curly hair, use a conditioner or a mousse to coat the hair and keep the curls in place.
