Satellite Brings The World Closer, 12th July 1962

Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson utilized a "horn" receiver built by Bell Labs for experiments at global transmission. The smaller Bell Horn became obsolete after the creation of the larger receiver horns for the Telstar program. The men used the small Bell Horn to study the cosmos. What the Horn received was a low-level of background of radiation. It became conclusive that the radoation was not from any earthy cause and was instead from deep space. The men realized, as did other researchers, that the radiation was the resulting from a "Big-Bang". Their findings helped pave the way for the full acceptance of the Big-Bang model of the universe and the dismissing of the Steady State Theory. Do you want to learn more?
