Step 1: Warm Up Your Voice
Welcome to omegabone.com. You should warm up your voice every time you sing. In this video, I'll be giving you a ten minute routine. Thank you for joining me.
Step 2: Buzzing and using Syllables
The first time you're going to go through the whole exercise with just the buzz. Then you're going to go through the whole routine again with the syllables, and then you're going to get started on your songs. If you go to my website, I have 48 mp3s of these exercises. Each exercise in all twelve keys so that you can go as high as you want and as low as you want and put it in your player, and you can customize your range and the length of the exercise. But if you do all of the exercises as a buzz first, and then you do all of them with the syllables, each one at a time, the whole thing takes ten minutes. Your goal is to make the buzzing specific for each note. Go as high as you comfortably can without any stress, and remember the higher you go and the lower you go the more space you need. You're going to need to remember what it felt like to yawn, to create that space.
Step 3: The Exercises
First let me give you an explanation of each of the exercises.
Step 4: Air Movement
Exercise one is great for air movement. You need to pay attention to your jaw, that you don't move your jaw too much in between the ee and the ah.
Step 5: Space In Your Mouth
The second exercise is great for giving you the space in your mouth to give you a better resonance. You want to make sure you have a nice round mouth and you want it to be forward but not too far. You don't want it to be nasal but you do want it to be very forward.
Step 6: Lower Range
The third is good for your lower range. And, I want you to give the w and oo-wah.
I don't want it so pronounced, but make sure you give the oo for the w.
Step 7: Upper Range
The last exercise is good for your upper range. Nice round mouth, okay. And oo is a nice forward vowel, so that's going to give you nice brighten high notes.
