We play many sports. But only a very few of us really know about its origin. Here is a clip that tells you a bit about the history of squash.
Hai, my name is Bob Jaffe. I am the director of coaching at the Dulwich Squash Club in London. We are one of the top twenty clubs in the country and the current Kent champions for the third year running.
We cater for all levels of ability. From our world rank players right down to the beginner level. I am going to talk to you about the equipment you are going to need, the etiquette you are going to use on court and the sort of shorts that you are going to need to play and how you are going to play them.
Squash developed from a game called rackets. That was originally played at Harrow School. The pupils noticed that a racket ball, when punctured created a game which was far more varied and exciting in the number of shots, on the amount of energy expended.
The first courts was constructed at Harrow school in 1864. And since then the game has gone to be known as squash.
