The Newspaper Magic Trick

Eric Paul reveals the secret to magic tricks.

Step 1:
-
The Secrets Of Magic Revealed
-
Magic you can do at home. Well, what I'd like to do is I'd like to start off by actually teaching you how all the magic is done. Most magicians don't do this so I think you're going to be very happy that you tuned in with us today. Well, one of the things I was reading the other day was about a magician known as the Masked Magician. Now he was on TV recently on the FOX TV network, I believe, and he would put on a mask and he would teach everyone how magic was done. Well, I'm not going to put on a mask, sorry to disappoint some of you at home, but I will teach you how every magic trick is done just by using this paper.
-
Step 2:
-
Illusions
-
See, it's very simple. Every time you see me or any magician do a trick, what you're actually seeing is not really happening. For instance, right here it looks like I ripped up the newspaper, but in magic this is what we call an illusion. You see, I'm really not tearing the newspaper up at all. I'm just making you think that I'm tearing it.
-
Step 3:
-
Use Of Sound
-
Now, I know that looks real, but what's really interesting about this illusion is not only does it look like I'm ripping it , but it even sounds like I'm ripping it. I'll do it right in my microphone, tell me if you can hear this.
-
Step 4:
-
Tricking The Senses
-
Isn't that amazing? So, I'm even fooling your ears, as well as your eyes into making you think I'm tearing this up, but I'm really not. This is just an illusion. So let me prove to you that we didn't really rip this, and all I need are the right magic words, and we all now today the magic words are "Phoenixville" and all I have to do is click my fingers and you can all see it really was just an illusion; that I didn't really rip the newspaper at all.
-
Step 5:
-
No Camera Tricks
-
Now keep in mind ladies and gentlemen, that everything you see here today, on our show, The Magic of Phoenixville, is happening live, right here in the studio audience. There are no camera tricks. There are no ploys. We are not going to do any cuts away while any of this magic is happening. Our friends Max and Steve behind the camera today are both seeing this live, as we speak.
