The World’s Smartest Dog
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, a poodle named Chandra-Leah holds the record for the most dog tricks preformed— over 500! And to date, Chandra-Leah can do over 1000. Unfortunately, while this savvy poodle is no longer with us, we can enjoy this film and marvel at her abilities.

Step 1:
-
World Record
-
According to the Guiness Book of World Records, Chanda-Leah, a toy poodle from Hamilton, Canada, holds the record for the most tricks performed by a dog.
Chanda’s mom and trainer, Sharon Robinson, confirms that, as of 2003, Chanda now performs over 1,000 tricks! “Believe It, Hamilton’s Chanda is the World’s Smartest Dog.” Chanda can play the piano, throw a strike like a pro bowler, and jump through hoops.

Step 2:
-
Dog Tricks
-
But where Chanda really shines is in the classroom. This little poodle could be the first dog in history that knows her ABCs. “What does the letter say?” “A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M” “Yes, Chanda, good girl, good girl.”
So, how does your dog measure up? Dr. Stanley Coren, author of “The Intelligence of Dogs” ranked all the major breeds by intelligence. Shetland Sheepdogs came in at number six. That’s my buddy! Dobermans came in fifth, golden retrievers ranked fourth in intelligence, German shepherds third, poodles are the second most intelligent, and border collies are generally thought of as the smartest dogs.
-
Step 3:
-
Training
-
So, how did Chanda-Leah become the world’s smartest dog? Well, she’s had over 3500 hours of training. She’s somewhat of a doggie Einstein! But her main motivation is these food rewards. Just like Buddy here, right Buddy? Give me your paw. Good boy!

Step 4:
-
Talents
-
Chanda’s talents have taken her to the Maury Povich Show and Life with Regis and Kathie Lee. But her mom and owner has larger aspirations. She wants Chanda to perform for President Bush at the White House.
