While the video was fair, lets add the best place to shave is in the shower when the beard is the softest. Second always shave in a down ward motion to make the hair grow in a uniform direction, making a better looking beard in the future. Never use a electric razor the rotating blades make the beard grow in circles that make you look like your face has blotches. The razor must be sharp or a tearing feeling is felt change the blade often. I personally use warm water to rinse the dry off with a soft towel the use lotion on the whole face for better looking skin the whole day. At least shave if you can!

I find using a moisterising face wash while in shower works well as a preparation - no need to make a DIY shaving cream. Get yourself a light on your mirror then you won't need the flash light. Its the shadow from the light being behind you that make it hard to see. Definitely use a multi-blade razor with a moistorising strip - avoid electric razors they always seem to cause skin irritation and are no where near as good a proper razor. Also make sure you change the blade regularly (every few weeks) don't wait for it to go completly blunt and the strip to disappear.

This is a pretty poor video, but targeted at older viewers. I'd go with the previous comment about shaving with the grain, unfortunately not mentioned in the video. It's interesting how much difference a good shave foam can make to a shave. Even though I'm pretty young, I'd also recommend using a shave brush, regardless of the soap you use - if you rub your hands over your face it will move the little bristles about, using a brush keeps them up and easier to cut with a blade.

HAHA! robert has 3 tips and a bonus tip to show us. This video made me laugh. The guy does not know how to shave properly. Robert forgets (perhaps ignorant) to put warm water on his face before applying the shaving gel. Without warm water applied it does not help the hair standup to be shaved. Robert seems to shake a lot..and i would not trust him with a sharp object. According to him, rinsing your face with cold water helps prevent irriation of the skin. Well robert you're a fool. It does NO such thing. If you want to stop razor burn then use a razor burn cream but usually some shaving gels and creams contain this. King of shaves is especially good. After shaving i recommend using a moisturing cream or witch hazel.

Thank you Robert for making this nice video. Some posters here seem upset that you didn't go into all the details in a complete "how to" on shaving; but they need to remember your video was a "tips" video and not a complete how to. That being said, I think it would have been quite useful to have done some cut-away shots, closeups of the items about which you were talking. Also, since this is a sequence of tips, you could also use a lower-third overlay with a couple of words and a tip number (see that popular video about how a lady wearing a mini-skirt should get out of a car, for example). Anyway, thanks for having the boll-ks to make this. Good job!

I wouldn't use a flashlight but I guess it might work for some, I just use my hands to see if there are rough areas, it's much easier to find the uneven spaces. I wouldn't use my tongue to push out the sides of my mouth, that spells danger, stretching is the strategy for the whole face. I agree to use a blade rather than electric, they just don't cut it! He missed one thing, it's wise to start going with the grain, getting it down to the skin, then go against the grain to get it smoooooth, it's easy to go against the grain once the face has the main rough parts gone. Lastly, it's much nicer using a nice hot cloth to finish, it soothes the skin!
