Uncharted 2 Tips
Uncharted 2 Tips
Andy Robertson, video game expert and operator of the Game People website, discusses tips on how to better play Uncharted 2, and other third person adventure games.
Uncharted 2, like other third person adventure games, offers the experience that is a little bit more involved than something like, say, a first person shooter. You're not only shooting and fighting enemies, but you're also solving puzzles, moving through the environment, and working out where to go. Because of this, it requires a different set of skills to a first person shooter, and it requires different skills to other games as well.
So, here are my tips for getting on with third person adventure games. As is true with any game, with a third person adventure, you need to take time to acclimatize to the controls, but these games are more complex and involved than other games that you may have played. You'll be doing more complicated manoeuvres, you'll be grappling with enemies, pulling switches, making difficult jumps, so, more than ever, it's important you play through the tutorial sections first, it's important you read all those tool tips, and all those challenges that come up as part of that tutorial.
They're there for a reason - the game designers have put them there to teach you how to play the game, so when you get to the more difficult levels, you're still able to proceed. Now, a key part of any third person adventure, is of course, the puzzles. Being able to solve those puzzles, though, requires a particular skill.
Now, what the games will often do (it's worth remembering this) is they'll put in the environment particular clues. So, these interactions and your explorations come together to provide you a way to move on and progress through the level. Another thing to remember is how you interact with the environment.
In Uncharted 2, you're making all sorts of difficult jumps, swinging from ropes, climbing over precipices, and jumping from moving cars. Keep an eye on how you're doing that - make sure that you know the timing when you're making those button presses. By getting good at those elements, you'll find that you're much better at progressing through the game as a whole.
So there you go, some tips for Uncharted 2. .
