Stack Your Insertions

Start with stacking your insertions so that you only have to pick up one pile to put into the invitation. On bottom would be the tissue paper to separate the insertions from the invitation.

Reception Card

Next would be the reception card with a map on top of that. The next layer would be the response envelope with the response card tucked under the flap. Where the insertions are placed depends on if you have a single-fold or multi-fold invitation.
If it is single-fold with writing only on the outside, you place the insertions on the top. If it is multi-fold, you put the insertions inside the first fold.

Check Insertions

Place all of the insertion stacks into one invitations inner envelope at a time, but do not seal the envelope.Once you have stuffed all of the invitations, if you have extra insertion pieces left over you may have missed one.

Match The Names & Addresses

After all pieces are accounted for, you may begin putting the inner envelopes inside the outer envelopes. If you have already addressed the outer envelopes, double-check that the names of the inner and outer envelopes match before sealing the outer envelope.

It would be a great etiquette faux pa to have mismatched guest names on the two envelopes. Now, you are ready to mail your correctly assembled invitations.

You can even request that the invitations not go through machine stamping to avoid ugly smear marks.
