Why I Hate Being A Teacher

Simon Warr explains why he hates being a teacher in modern Britain.
-
We live in an era which is hugely sympathetic to the adolescent viewpoint, yet children don't seem able to behave themselves. We've tried in schools to accommodate children's interests, but it has not been a successful venture. A series of legislations have been passed in the past 10-15 years which has manacled teachers' hands together - no longer are we in charge. Children can do exactly what they want, when they want, because there will be no reprisals. Teachers are virtually unable to discipline children.

The result is grim: exam results and behavioural standards are slipping.

That is why I dislike being a teacher in modern Britain.
