Wii Sports: Tips & Tricks
The Nintendo Wii came with Wii Sports when it launched. It is a disk of several fun games. In this video, you are given some pointers on the two most popular, tennis and bowling.
So, I'm talking to you about Wii Sports. Now, this is a game that was bundled with the Wii when it was first launched, so most people that have got a Wii have got this game or have played it. I'm often asked what is the best way to get better and to start your score at each activity.
Improving. Now, that's different, depending on the activities you're playing. Two particular favorites - they're favorites of mine as well, tennis and bowling.
Now, having played these quite a lot and also having watched people play them, I think there's a couple of things you need to bear in mind to improve your score. With tennis, although you're doing a lot of motions to hit the ball back over the net, it's easy to feel like you have to swing your wrist really hard or really vigorously to get the best shot. Now, actually, with this game, the real trick is with timing.
The later you time a full hand shot, the further to the right it will go and the earlier you swing it, it'll take it back to the left. Using that timing, you can start to work your opponent from one side of the court to the other. And that's the real way you're going to be able to beat them.
The other popular game is bowling and it's one I enjoy a lot as well. Now, at first, when you play it, it seems really technical and much more involved that the other games on Wii Sports because you have to line up your player in the alley. You have to consider the spin of the ball.
But really, the trick to doing well at this game is really about just bowling as if you were in real life. So, often, try to trick the game by flicking your wrist or by spending hours lining up the perfect shot. Really, the best thing is fluid motion; with one addendum to that is that at the end of your shot, you really want to give a little flick just to bring the ball back in.
So, this is what I tend to do is aim slightly to the right of the middle pin, if you're right handed. Take your shot and as you're finishing, bring your wrist around and you'll see the ball swinging back into the middle of the alley and you've got a great chance of getting a strike or picking up that spare. There are a whole range of games on Wii Sports to enjoy but those are my tips for the two popular ones. .
