Hi there. I'm Chris from Aspect Maintenance, an electrical company based in the centre of London. We're just going to have a brief outline of some health and safety things that you should remember within a house.
Obviously working in a house, turn off everything before you work on it. Sounds silly but some people obviously don't do it. Just turn it off and retest it, just so you know that's the right circuit that you've turned off.
Obviously with locations as well, remember where to put your smoke alarms in the areas they're supposed to be in. The instructions will have all this in it. It's the same within a bathroom, obviously make sure that you choose waterproof components, shaver sockets, water proof lights for the ceiling, simple things like that just remember when you're doing it.
Obviously when connecting your shower remember to put it in isolation switch outside the shower. It's the same with everything, nothing should be in the bathroom with, apart from the lights and say a shaver socket. Simple things like clothing to wear, make sure that you're wearing the tidiest clothing, nothing that can hang or get caught on anything.
No jewellery at all. Even down to the tools that your using, make sure that you use obviously insulated tools, things like that. Just if anything goes wrong you're going to minimise the chance of electric shock or even worse to yourself.
And that's just a brief outline of some things you should keep in mind when doing electric work around the house. .
