This video will give you tips on what to do to solve the problem of Xbox 360 consoles overheating. It will also help you with disc wear and tear.

Hi, I'm Rene Millman, editor of Absolute Gadgets, and today I'll be talking about the Xbox 360. In this video, we're going to be talking about Xbox problems. One of the biggest problems of the Xbox is overheating.

When it was first produced, some would say that they didn't have sufficient fans or a big enough heat sink. If you don't have enough ventilation for the Xbox, overheating will occur and that could lead to a failure of the hardware of Xbox. Before we get to a situation where the hardware has failed, you can take preventative measures to prevent overheating.

Make sure that the console is in a well ventilated area. Don't stick it away in a cupboard when you are playing because you will get a build-up of heat which can be catastrophic to the Xbox. Another thing to do is also just take a break from playing the Xbox.

Some people can spend easily eight hours solid playing Call of Duty or Halo, and it's not really good for them, and it's not really good for the Xbox. So take a break, turn it off, make sure it cools down, you can come back, have a cup of tea or a drink, and come back and play again. Another problem with the Xbox is disc wear and tear.

The best way to prevent that, to make sure your discs stay scratch free and playable for many months, is to make sure that the console is placed flat like so. If you place it on its side, it is more difficult for the disc to rotate properly and that will lead to wear and tear and scratches. So, if you place it flat on the console in a well ventilated room, then you should find that your discs don't wear as quickly and you will get much more life out of the console and your discs. .
