All my life i have had hair that is thin and fine.
The easiest solution is to cut it shorter. Any kind of choppy short do or bobs will be very easy to style and your hair will feel thicker and healthier in an instant. I got mine cut quite short last year and the difference is amazing. Now i can mess around with loads of different styles. When fine hair is long, it is weighed down and can look very weak and lifeless.
If you don't like the sound of that or you already have short hair, make sure you have a very intense conditioner as most methods and products for full-bodied hair can make your hair very dry. I disagree with the other comment as i've tried not using any products and it's aweful.
When shampooing and conditioning your hair, use as little as you possibly can. I use no more than a 50p coin-sized amount of shampoo. This is because no matter how much to rinse, it never totally washes out and the more you use, the heavier your hair becomes. The same with the conditioner, (which is why you need quite an intense one) use a very small amount and only put it on the end of your hair. Do not let it anywhere near the roots as this will also make your hair heavier.
I do not believe in the 'thickening' shampoo and conditioner as it is makes your hair very very dry and brittle.
When your hair is damp, SeaSalt Spray by Label M (which can be bought in Tony and Guy or Boots) is amazing. It's just under £10, which is quite expensive but it lasts quite a while. Spray it onto your roots before blow drying and it really thickens the roots and gives hair a bit of life.
While blow-drying use a round brush at the roots, turning the brush as it drys. Combined with the spray, it will lift the roots. Then once your hair is dry, you can then use the SeaSalt Spray again (still with the hairdryer on) to give your hair that bit of extra thickness.
Giving your hair a blast with the hairdryer on cold while your head is upside down cools your hair down and fixes the roots upright, making your hair look fuller and fixing the style.
To finish, Elnette hairspray is amazing. It's light and never weighs hair down. Just spray it on your roots for that extra boost. if you want to style your hair afterwards, the tiniest bit of wax through your hair can give it the polished look. Be careful though, if you use too much it will be too heavy and your hair will flatten again within half an hour.
Good luck, hope it helps...
