maroo bhajia would be a good idea. peel about 10 potatoes. slice and place into bowl. put approx. half a cup of gram flour, half tspn. turmeric powder, salt and chillies to taste, 1 and a half tspns eno. mix well and fry a little at a time. prepare some chutney with it if you like.. blend some green chillies with salt and add some freshly ground garlic to it(little as it can get strong). serve bhajias with chutney. for dessert, gulab jamun would be ideal.

well....finger foods... samosas are tasty little triangle pastries which u could make using a veg filling as hindus are vegetarian. Onion bhargi is another one which is cheap to make too. Desserts...RICE pudding made with cardomons, cinnamon and saffron, basmati rice, sugar and milk. gulab jamun...half cup powdered milk, 1 tbspn ghee, 2 cups sugar, 2 tbspn natural yoghurt, half tsp powdered cardamon, 2 tbspns all purpose flour, 2 cups water. make syrup with sugar, water and cardamon, boil low heat. mix flour, milk add ghee bind with yoghurt and little milk, make into balls, fry 1 minute, then leave to soak in the syrup. To drink, a sweet lassi OR in India they drink a drink made with water, sugar and lemon juice to keep them cool in the heat. poppadoms would be a favourite with kids too.Suzi
