Does Anyone Know About Planting/digging Up Vegetables By The Waxing And Waning Of The Moon

I've recently retired, with a new allotment and am interested in planting etc, by the cyle of the moon. I wondered if anyone knew about this subject - or, if there is any free web information concerning this, that anyone could direct me to as I couldn't find it on videojug.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question. You have been very helpful and I'll certainly look into your suggestions. Thanks to Raven, to whom I mention that the reason I looked into moon planting is that my mother-in-law who lives in Italy, plants by the moon. In fact, her family have been doing so for centuries, she follows your principals. Thanks again to you all.

Try looking at sites for bio-dynamic farming. They offer very simple guides and tutorials to complex astrological planting methods. Some of them are not only exciting, but very rewarding, some prompting you to observe the beauty of the night sky whilst shaking your mushrooms!! And they're all free! Also take some time to find out about Rudolf Steiner... He had some great ideas about the land and how we can harmonise with it...

I don't know if you still requiring this information but I I was just browsing the Internet when I found this site. I am a HedgeWitch and use the cycles of the moon to plant. If you are growing flowering plants it is best to do this when the moon is Waxing as this is before the cycle of the start of the new moon. If you are referring to vegetables, as rule of thumb, I plant mine during the Waning moon as it is my belief that before something grows it has what I call a rest period in which the plant matter is storing up all its energy before bursting forth and flowering or as the case may be, growing into a new vegetables. If I can be of any help please email me. My name is Raven and my email is shadowdancer@live.co.uk

Julian, thanks. I'll pop into my local Waterstone's today, so I have two choices of purchase. You're right, it is a good price and too good to be missed. Thanks again to you too!
