Does anyone pay "wife maintainence" when divorced in uk if the children are grown up or they have no children? How is that calculated, does anyone know? Just interested to know!

I do not have any children but because my lazy parasite of an ex wife couldnt be bothered to work I have to pay her £300 per month until either she dies or lives with someone or I die or retire. Even then I have to go back to court to see if they still need me to continue paying for her. She got 72% of the estate when we divorced. Divorce is not the answer.

Sarky, it really depends on what the laws are wherever you happen to be. It will depend on family assets, your income and the number and ages of your children. Seek counselling and try and agree on an equitable solution for all concerned. And good luck.

your se must be an exception as more often than not the mother is left holding the children while the man se,s them maybe once a week leaving him free to do as he pleases the rest of the time.

Dear anonymous, if you read the post, you will see that it is 50/50 childcare ie we both have the same ' freedom'. The only difference is that she has more assets, works less hours and gets money from me. She has in fact totally taken advantage of her freedom, both during our marriage and since.....

And she should get it too! Its a 24hr 365 day a year job looking after your children you know. You have the FREEDOM to do whatever or go with whoever you fancy, she dosent.

Sorry to hear that. I am paying 75% more than CSA recomend, and splitting family assets 60/40 in her favour. We have a 50/50 childcare sharing arrangement. If I sound facetious, its only because she still wants more.

Alas Anonymous, not true. At Decree Nisi stage my 'ex' is living with his new partner (even promised our daughter she can be bridesmaid), hasn't completed his Form E properly, is running up debts unnecessarily and is forcing us out of our home because he wants cash now. This will result in completely uprooting her from her last term of primary school, she won't be able to attend the snr school we worked so hard at getting her in and we haveto try & get on the council housing list! Sadly the law is an ass and my 'ex' refuses to sit down and see things from both sides, work things out amicably & lessen lawyers fees.

Apparently, Maintennce payments are calculated by some method which makes the da Vinci Code, and Moon Landings look simple. Just accept that women get the money, whatever.
