You can however beat temporary depression but long term? Forget it
The only option is anti depressants.
Yes, getting out in the early morning sun light helps, a happy marriage, a nice got and plenty of money van help but never eliminate the real thing.

You can also have the chemical levels in your brain checked. It's just a urine or swab test, and can help you to realize that it genuinely is a medical problem. Here is a website: https://www.neurorelief.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=10&Itemid=66
Your doctor will have to send off for the kit and explain the results. Something as simple as one kind of transmitter isn't sending the things it's suppose to can have an effect on the levels of other chemicals on down the line in that system.

All of you God advocators, even if that does work for you; it is a complete dellusion. How do you feel knowing that you've delluded yourself into feeling comfortable? Even if God exists, he clearly does nothing for this world. And if he does do something then he arbitrarily blesses some and tortures others. Who then would want help from such a biased insensible thing?

Stop living on your own and start trusting God with all of your heart, ask Him to forgive you for all of your sins and the peace of Christ will remain in your heart, and the sadness will go away, only in Him we can experience the true happyness.

It is very common; most people just don't talk about it. I come from a strong family history of depression, and have dealt with it myself. I have a college degree, was in a sorority, the whole nine yards... I have done bouts of medication, and have been off for almost three years. I would be willing to go back on if things got bad again. Deciding to live off meds. was a personal decision, and has to be done Very Carefully. When I decided to live off meds. my counselor worked with me to come up with a plan. Action is the main thing that will keep it from snow-balling into a problem.
Depression is only going to be a problem if you let it get out of control. If you have a tendency toward it, then it's going to be kind of like diabetes, something that you have to maintain.
First, you have to figure out what's going on. A general rule of thumb is if it lasts more than 2 weeks, start paying attention. If things like suicide begin to seem like plausible solutions, thats like a flashing light. Depression is only a problem if you don't watch it and deal with it.
There are different kinds of depression. Going to see a Dr. is cheaper than losing your marriage, health, or life.
SOLUTIONS: There are a lot of things you can do to help maintain. Most of them are small things, but you HAVE to do them. These are only a few. 1) Drink enough water 2) Spend some time in sunlight every day. 3) Do something active every day. I don't care if you lose weight, but you HAVE to do this. Even if it's only an 8min workout on a tape. GO SEE A DR.

There is no evidence that omega 3 are effective for treating depression. There IS evidence that exercise is effective (about equal to antidepressants in most trials). This can be hard though, since depression tends to increase fatigue and decrease motivation. The trick is to schedule it in and keep at even though you may not feel better right away. It's the old "fake it until you make it" idea. The other option is to see a psychologist who is trained in cognitive-behavior therapy: a brief, highly effective treatment for depression.
