How Do I File My Taxes If I Didn't Make Any Money This Year?

For tax stimulus, those of us that don't normally have to file taxes must this year. They sent out forms "2007 information about economic stimulus payments for social security, veterans, and other beneficiaries". You may also file electronically for free. Visit www.irs.gov and click the free file icon. How do I fill that out if I have zero money to put? What am I missing?? mental blocked

You are welcome. If you check the IRS web site and click on "Stimulus Questions?"you can find a schedule of when checks will be sent out. It is based on the last two digits of your SSN.

Thank you for your answer. I finally got the form they sent out, was just late getting it, and following those instructions was much easier than what was on the web site. Again, thank you for taking the time to answer. :)

They sent the forms to people who don't normally file, but who have social security or veterans' benefits. If you have social security income that was reported to you on a form 1099 SSA for 2007 or if you have veterans' benefits, and the amount of either or both was more than $3,000 you can put the amount on line 14a. If you can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return you cannot get the payments. If you drew SSI, unemployment or worker's comp, they cannot be used to qualify for the payments. Fill out the form through item 7. Skip to 14a and put in your total social security or veterans' payments for the year. Turn the form over and, if you want direct deposit, fill in item 44. If not, sign it and send it back in the envelope provided. I work for the IRS and tell people this about 100 times a day. If you still don't understand, call 800-829-1040.
