I had problems with that. The concept was the hardest part, for me. The teacher finally pulled out a bucket of beans and arranged them on a grid to show me, for instance 2x6. She then had me take a certain number of beans and divide them into equal groups, e.g. 5 piles of 4, to understand what the rules were doing. I've always had problems with math unless I can relate it to something concrete or understand the movement of the amount. Good Luck!
