I have this ugly dark patch of dry skin on my chin under my lip so what should i do?

My wife has this problem. It sort of looks like a 'six o'clock shadow' all around the mouth area. She is Asian and her skin is not too dark, however the skin is a shade darker around this area. Personally I don't think it's that noticable,however it causes her concern. Does anyone have any suggestions/advice?

its probably cloasma, i've found that exfoliating doesnt work, nor does whitening creams. putting SPF 100 on doesnt prevent it either! my homeopath told me it can be caused by kidney or thyroid inbalances. and i've read that it can also be hormonal and affects people on the pill, although i've not been on it for years. i'm going to try the chinese herbal option mentioned above... either that or some kind of acid peel!

I had a condition called Hyperpigmentation for about 6 years, dark patches of skin on my face which would get worse in the sun, I became quite paranoid in the Summer! Stay out of the sun. Try skin bleaching cream. If not too dark, try lemon juice.
