I am an asian gay man, i used to cry everyday dealing with people bullying me because i am asian and gay, those days are really dark. Since I have talked to many friends and through my life experience, i found there are a few ways dealing with racist and bullys. How to deal with Homophobia And Racism? there's no easy answer, it really depends on where you are(public or private), situation(stranger or people you know), status of power( your boss or collegue). It's 2008 now , our law is getting better, but that makes it harder to deal with bully or racist because most discrimination are hidden, sometimes it would be more hurtful. the suggestions i can give you are
1 make yourself psychologically stronger. most time, hidden discrimination is attacking your confident and emotion, they like to see you hurt. do not let the bullys affect your emotion, try to stay stable and calm.It happens, you not injured, move on, think about the good things and forget about him, you wont see him again. talk to a close friend about it is the best way. research have shown, people with too much bios or hate are suffering psychological and social problems, watch them, they are not just going against you , but also against any1 who is different from them(even their parents) . its not just you, most people dont like bullys, bully are the losers, in fact 95% of people are normal and nice people, there is hope.
2 stand up for yourself, research have shown, the more you stand up for yourself, the more respect you will receive. but you need to make sure not to put yourself in a situation or environment where you are at risk.
3 you have to learn how to ignore nasty people sometimes. I know its hard to do when some1 call you **** on the streeet, but you will never see them again, just walk again quickly. in fact , if you response, they actually get more excited( you cant stop people being stupid when they are on drug)
4 some people may not realised they said something racist, this usually happen in work, tell the person who made the bad commend, you are hurt and tell them to be nicer to you next time, make sure you speak to them privately. you will be surprised, he will look after you from now on.
5 If you are a man,you really need to stay fit and go to gym regularly. trust me, it helps.
6 contact the police immediately , if you got physically attacked by bullys.
7 in the situation you cant get away from the bullys and you are in a safe environment. use the phychological key to play against them, tell them how you feel, play out the facts why they are wrong, ask them to consider themselves in your position. if it doesnt help, ask people around you for help, public will help you out. most peoplle are nice, remember that and believe that.

I agree with one point the previous statement. No one should have to put up with being harrassed or harmed gay , straight, other and of any race or religion. HOWEVER, I disagree about not "puting oneself in a situation". No one should have to pick and choose if they are going to not hire, hit or talk about someone beause they walked into the "wrong area". People should be able to go where they want. Especially in the U.S. For instance if a black man wants to earn a living as a waiter at a Japanese restaurant he should be able to apply, be trained and earn money because he is qualifide after he is trained. He should not be denied making a living because he was not born the "correct race" or he didn't "mind his place". That would be as silly as not hiring someone who is not sudanees or ethiopian at a place that serves coffee. No one should have to be discriminated against for any reason. In the example that I gave, a lot of people would say "If he/she is qualified. But the truth is, everyone has to learn and anyone can be trained. Not all training or hiring practices are fair, but the opportunity should exist.
WAKE UP PEOPLE, ITS 2007!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just my opinion. First, try not to put yourself in a situation or environment where you are at risk.
If that is not possible, call the police. It is illegal for people to threaten and harass you. If it is done on the basis of color, height, weight, sexual orientation, etc..., then it may be considered a hate crime and carries a hefty penalty.
Protect yourself, but be smart. Call the police. They are trained and paid to deal with lawbreakers.
