Some "children" just dont want to give anything, earn higher incomes than their parents and watch them struggle while they are frittering money away on "having fun"

one of my sons earn £400 a week,he pays £20 my other son is at college and has a part time job he does not pay any money .the money he earns is for him to save or spend as college is his main focus.i think 5%of wages is plenty leaving them more money to save.

I am single and my daughter earns around £500 more a month than i do. 10% seems too small amount as 100% of my income is going on food, electricity, gas, phone, etc, etc. Should she have 90% of her income to spend as she wishes while i am struggling to make ends meet? She is now a proffessional as iv supported and encouraged her through further education for 6yrs.

if you're thinking of moving out at some point it's a good idea to give a realistic amount to your parents (even if they save this for you). Room rental is around £50 per week plus food and expenses will come to another £30 say. so you should be aiming to give your parents around £300 to £350 per month (or save some of this yourself and give them a smaller amount of say £100). I think the latter is best but you really need to be realistic about how much it will cost you to move out. So by saving say £250 a month and giving £100 a month to you parents you will be able to be independent one day.

that would depend on your age and circumstances. 10% is good if you are a young child and your parents are not hauling you to your job, more if there is an expense in getting you to and from the job. If you are over 16 you should contribute toward insurance and expenses on your or parents vehicle and at least 10% toward room and board.
