Samsung G600 - adding contacts to groups only seems to work is the contacts are stored on the phone. If all your contacts are on the sim they are not visible from the Groups - Add menu

Need a question answered! I have a samsung G600 and does anyone know how to add a set of contacts to a group? When i go into the group and click on "add" it just says "empty entry". The reason being I am a musician and would like to send the same text to my other 4 band members at once, rather than idividually. Also, is there any way of increasing the volume on the text alert?
