For kids: Cinnamon toast: toast bread, butter and add 1tsp ground cinnamon mixed with browm sugar, spread on hot bread. Banana sliced with custard. Jellies made with tins or fresh friut, baked bananas covered with chocolate spead, filled pancakes with friut or minced beef, veg disguised in mashed potatoes!

Brighton beef; Cubed braising steak, 2 crushed garlic cloves, 2 sliced leeks, 200g sliced mushrooms, 1 sliced yellow pepper, 1 tsp chilli powder, 200ml red wine, 400g tinned tomatoes, salt, black pepper, 1 tablespoon worcestshire sauce. Brown beef in iol, add pepper, mushrooms, garlic, leeks, chilli, fry few mins the add other ingreidients and simmer 1 hour, serve with rice, or potatoes and veg

Apple dumplings; 4 cooking apples cored, 350g shortcrust pastry, 50g soft brown sugar, 25g butter, 1 beaten egg, 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Make pastry into 4 squares, mix butter, cinnamon, sugar, and fill each apple with it. Place apples on pastry square, turn pstry over so joins underneath, glaze with egg, put on floured baking sheet gas 6 for about 30 mins, serve with cream.

Shortbread; 250g butter, 125g icing sugar, 225g plain flour, pinch of salt, vanilla essence. First mix butter and sugar together, add flour, essence, salt ,make into dough. Roll out and cut into rounds with cookie cutter, bake in oven on low heat 30-45 mins

Bacon pudding. 1 packet bacon cut into pieces with fat trimmed off, 1 chopped onion, 8o z self raising flour, 5oz shredded suet. Fry bacon, onion few mins seasoned with salt, pepper. Make dough with suet and flour adding 6-8 tablespoons water, roll out dough fill with bacon and onion, roll up and cook in oven 25-35 mins. Serve with mashed potatoes, veg and gravy. You can also make the dough and add fruit, jam or chocolate to make a desert instead.

Parkin Cake; This cake is supposed to be eaten on Bonfire Night November 4th. 8oz self raising flour, 4oz caster sugar {brown}, 1tps ground ginger, 1tsp bi~carbonate soda, 1 egg, 7floz milk, 2oz butter, 4oz golden syrup. Seive flour, sugar, ginger, soda in bowl, heat syrup butter till melted, beat egg into milk, mix all together, put into lined cake tin, cook gas 2 for 1 hour. Enjoy with cup of tea on a cold night!

S - scrambled eggs. bring 175l of milk to the boil but take off the heat as it nears boiling. let it rest. add some some salt and pepper. crack 2 eggs in and use a balloon whisk to mix. put back on a low heat and whisk the mixture regularly until it thickens. the eggs should now be quite firm in the pan. you need to aim for a texture that will stand on its own, not a sloppy mess on the plate. serve with freshly toasted bread. or as part of a full breakfast. or for a posh option, with mackerel fillets warmed in cream. yummy !
