What Is The Temperament Of A Bearded Dragon?

My 5 year old son wants a reptile and I am in the process of researching various ones. I have come across the this reptile and wanted to know more information on how to care for them, their temperament and if, like some reptiles, they carry salmonella.

THEY DO CARRY SALMONLA, BUT IF YOU USE ACHOHOL HAND WASH, THIS IS FINE, BEARDED DRAGONS NEED FEEDING EVERYDAY, SO THEY CAN TAKE A LITTLE TIME TO GET INTO A ROUTINE, THEY ALSO NEED TO BE FED VARIOUS VEGGIES! AND CRICKETS, SO UNLESS U LIKE HANDLING AND FEEDIN THEM LIVE FOOD, THEN MAYBE NOT SUCH A GOOD IDEA. ALLTHOUGH, THESE ARE FABULOUS PETS TO HAVE WITH KIDS, THEY ARE VERY CALM AND WILL QUITE HAPPILY BE HANDLED, OOD LUCK WITH THE NEW REPTILE! P.S. IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT CORN SNAKES OR BEARDIES, ASK ME AND I WILL SEE IF I CAN HELP, I MAY NOT BUT STILL I COULD GIVE YOU AN ANSWER OR GUID YOU TO A BRILLIANT WEBSITE FROM BEARDIEGIRL 007

It's been said many times, wash your hands! Google search "salmonella lizard". They carry salmonella bacteria in their guts, which can infect humans if something they've come into contact with is put in your mouth.

hey. i av kept beardies for as long as i can remember. they are great with kids and adults. but they can be very costly but they are well worth it. the more u handle it the tamer it will be. beardies need alot of attention and care but if u have the time then ur son will be fine. good luck and as for any reptile just make sure ur son washes his hands every time he handles the beardie

first of all you need a tank 1m/45cm/45cm or a 40-60 gallon tank and dont buy a small tank to start with just buy 1 tank for the lizards whole life they will soon grow into them and beardies do make great pets but if your son id only 5 then i dont recomend a beardie as they take alot of responsibility and like to be handeled often and ur son has only just started school and will not have time to look after it as wen he gets home he will want to go and play football with his friends and need to do his home work and then in the evening the beardie will start to sleep as they are not nocturnal. I recomend a leopard gecko as they are nocturnal and dont need to be handled often also they will be awake in the evening wen ur son is able to pley with it but he needs to make sure he washes his hands before and after he handles it. Hop this helps i have been keeping reptile most of my life i started of with leopard geckos i still hae them and have moved right up to 1and half meter long monitors and an iguana that sits in my should and his tail goes all the way down my back and nearly touches the floor but i still love my leopard gecko's that i have still got from wen i was a kid
