My daughter had the same problem of wetting and soiling herself, until one afternoon she started to scream with abdo pain. I took her to the A & E department where I was told her bowel had gone into spasm. She eventually had a urethal and bowel stretch ( as she never got enough senesation when need to go) Result................instant cure!!!

My friend's child had a similar problem, until he was 12. Poor child was being sent to therapy, placed on medication, got kicked out of a good main-stream school and sent to a school for troubled youth because they thought it was a behavioral problem. It wasn't until she took him to a children's hospital in Boston that he was properly diagnosed with an immature nervous system, thus causing him not to properly recognize when he needed to releive himself. The cure? Physiotherapy, believe it or not! After a few weeks, his problems were nearly all gone. He is now a healthy 15 year old boy, but emotionally, he carries the baggage of shame a guilt from all those years he went undiagnosed. It was all very traumatic for the entire family, but her son definitely suffered the most. I'm not suggesting your daughter may have this problem, but I urge you to definitely seek a second, third, and fifteenth opinion if you must.

Is it possible that your daughter feels that she has no autonomy and control over her life? Sometimes we give our children too much attention and involve ourselves in every aspect of their lives so that they hardly have room to make decisions for themselves, or time alone to reflect. This is usually because we love them so much, but giving them responsibilty for themselves (and their bodily functions) is a way of loving them.

Definitely seek help your doctor. It may be a physical weakness or he may refer you to a child psychologist because the double soiling is possible a problem of emotional source.

Maybe she has a UTI. There is tests for that. She may have to take huge pills but it is worth it. I had a friend who had a UTI now she doesn't wet herself anymore.

She should definitely be growing out of wetting herself by now, especially in the daytime, not so much at night, as bedwetting is normal around that age, but she should not be soiling herself at 8 years old. Take her back to the doctor to get the problem sorted.

bedwetting at that age is normal, but the #2 isn't. You should probably see a doctor about it.
