Throw that manky old rubber doorstop away and make this cute felt owl instead.
YOU WILL NEED:
STEP 1: CUT OUT YOUR SHAPES
Cut out two circles 1.6 inches in diameter out of the grey felt. Cut out a filled in figure of 8 shape 5 inches long out of the orange felt. Cut a 1 x 1 x 1 inch triangle out of yellow fabric. Cut out two triangles 1.5 x 2.5 x 2.8 inches out of grey felt. Cut out a 4 inch circle out of grey felt. Cut out two squares with rounded corners 6.2 x 5.7 inches out of your patterned cloth. Cut a rectangle 2 x 4 inches.
STEP 2: MAKE THE EYES
Stitch the two grey circles onto the figure of 8 shape, then glue it to the top of one of your squares of fabric. Glue the yellow triangle to the bottom of the figure of 8 – this will be it’s beak. Sew the two buttons onto the grey circles – these will be it’s eyes.
STEP 3: MAKE THE HANDLE
Fold the rectangle of patterned fabric in half with the pattern on the inside, then sew along the seam and the end. Turn inside out.
STEP 4: POSITION THE WINGS AND HANDLE
Position the grey triangles along the sides of the face with the point facing inwards and the handle at the top with the open edge facing upwards. These sections will be attaches when you sew on the back.
STEP 5: SEW ON THE BACK AND BASE
Place the other patterned square face down on the owl’s face ans sew around the edges. Pin the large grey felt circle along the bottom and stitch on, leaving a small hole un-stitched.
STEP 6: FILL THE OWL WITH RICE
Turn the owl inside out, fill with raw rice and stitch up the hole.
